Show A MONSTROUS WOMAN. At the Jorty-first annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement Ad-vancement of Science, recently held in Edinburgh, Sir Duncan Gibb contributed contrib-uted "A Note on the F.u Wmuan now exhibiting in London." As a rule, he said, enormously i'aL women were rare compared with men. Caroline Ueenan, now exhibiting in London, is 22 years old, aud weighs -10 stone or 560 lbs.; she is 7 feet around the body, 3 feet 6 inches across the shoulders, and 26 inches around the arm. Differing from most fat people, though the limbs are very large, they are not exclusively composed of fat, a large proportion being duo to muscular development, which is confirmed by her history and actual inspection. The cheat and abdomen ab-domen aro of course enormous, but not from simple obesity, iler growth and enlargement have been progressive from infancy, and withal she has been able to sustain great muscular exercise that would have iatigued ordinary persons, per-sons, which is opposed to the view uf pure adipose enlargement. At 9 months she weighed seventy pounds, at '.I years she was eleven stone, and at 1-1 years twenty-four stone. She is handsome and pleasing, face not fat or greasy, is highly intelligent, and not in any way drowsy. She will in all probability progressively increase as she gets older, and may becomo the largest and heaviest heav-iest female who has yet been seen. Ex. |
