Show TENTH WARD REUNION oU Enjoyable Affair Yesterday Afternoon Af-ternoon and Evening The people of the Tenth ward held their annual reunion in their meeting house yesterday afternoon and evening The interior of the house was elegantly decorated decor-ated with flowers pictures and national colors In the west end star tle a representing represent-ing Utah as one of the sister states of the republic and with electric republc ad electc jets at tracted special notice Richly laden tables were set before the visitors who in turns partook of the good things prepared pre-pared for them The guests numbered gests about 400 After the repast the visitors listened to the rendition of a programme of exercises The opening chorus was very finely sung by the choir After prayer Elder C W Penrose made a speech in which he referred to the poll tical aspect of affairs in Utah and the high position she is about to assume a a state He expressed his belief that a reaction from the recent financial depression sion is taking place and that gradually the present efforts of the people of Utah will be crowned with rich fruition Elder Angus 11 Cannon followed He spoke of the glorious liberty that the people enjoy en-joy and the high privileges that they are assuming God is shaping the destiny des-tiny of Utah he said and it Is the duty of the people to dispense freely to the neeldy a part of the comforts and blessings bless-ings which they enjoyed A programme of exercises which much delighted the audience was then rendered Of these a duet by Messrs A E Bradley ana Joseph Poll a recitation by Miss Maud Paul and a flute solo by Mr C G Berry are especially es-pecially worthy of mention Closing remarks re-marks were made by r Paul Elder E13 ward Braby and others The audience sang America The young people afterwards after-wards engaged In dancing |
