Show I HANA KAAPEAS PRESENTATION One of the most interesting events dunn the meeting of the National Counci or Women was the presentation presenta-tion to the council of Hana Kaapea the young Hawaiian lady who came herewith here-with the Utah delegation She was presented in a neat speech by Susa Young Gates and received with v arm demonstrations of affection She made a few remarKB urging support of fcx Quene LIHoukalatii in her efforts to secure se-cure the ballot for the women cf Hawaii Ha-waii At the close of her voilchosen words she exemplified the pretty Island custom of gathering the love of all the ladies present In a silk handkerchief handker-chief that she might take it back to her people President Sevell assured Hana that she could return with the greetings of the women of America to her own people The Hawaiian lady had worn three wreaths of smilax and tea roses and after her warm reception she threw the wreaths over the necks of Mrs Scwell Miss Anthony and Rev Mrs Shaw which dainty compliment was received I with another warm demonstration The same evenin Susa Young Gates delivered an interesting and thoughtful thought-ful address on The Condition and I Status of Hawaiian Women which was one of the best of the convention I C |
