Show THE PRINTING CONTRACT It Is Awarded to the Salt Lake Lith osrraphinK Company Yesterday before the meeting of the Legislature the joint committee on printing held a long and very warm session and finally came to a determination deter-mination to give the contract for leg islative printing to the Salt Lake Lithographing Litho-graphing company The lowest bid presented came from the Juvenile Instructor In-structor company but Powers and others took the stand that the contract should to a union office go ofce s that those men who have been thrown out of work by the introduction of the Linotypes in the newspaper offices may have a chance to secure work There was some opposition to favoring union offices but this did not develop more strength than is necessary to cause a minority report to be put in the Council The House members of the committee were unanimously in favor of the union office and will so report The majority of the Council Counci members submitted a favorable report yesterday but withdrew it i in order to give time to prepare a minority report re-port The amount of the bid the ma jority say will not make any appreciable appre-ciable difference as the offer of the 1 t I I i j + t Juvenile Instructor is only slightly lower l than the offer accepted and the difference is made up in the style in which the work will be done |
