Show DOUGALL CONTE T GAS E The Committee on Elections Will Probably Unseat Robertson THE FREE WOOL MEMORIAL THERE MAY BE A GOOD DEBATE OX IT TODAY Allen Wants the Leglulatnre to Stay Reimblcan The Printing Contract Given Contingent Expense Committee Com-mittee Hearings on Redemption Tlie Canaiffre Root Some Opinions Opini-ons From tlie 2Vorth The committee on elections of the House to which was referred the contest con-test case of Hugh Dougall against the seat of Alex Robertson held a long session yesterday morning to hear arguments ar-guments in the case and began last night at S oclock to discuss the matter mat-ter finishing the discussion at 1 oclock All members of the committee were very reticent about the proceedings in the committee room as they considered con-sidered it would be a breach of courtesy cour-tesy to the House to make known what they had done before reporting to that body Chairman Allen however practically admitted that 3 decision had been arrived at although he would not say so absolutely He promised however how-ever that his report will be submitted to the House at todays session From the fact that Messrs Allen Johnson and Clark are the majority members of the committee it is not difficult to surmise that their report will be in favor of the unseating Robertson Rob-ertson and giving Dougall a certificate and a seat as the Republicans need another member to give them the twothirds necessary to apply the gag rule by carrying the previous question ques-tion tonI is not known whether or not the minority will submit a report on the question or whether a fight will be made when i comes up for consideration considera-tion in the House In all probability however they will allow the majority to do as it wishes in the matter without bate with-out any opposition except in the de |
