Show t GOULD 11 I E I 1URDER 11 j i The Mysterious Death of Mrs 11 Duncan at Ogden I 1 I POISON iN HER MEDICINE I I Several Suspicions Circumstances Connected Con-nected with the Case J I The Lady TooU an Ordinary Doso of > > ne Tonic and Died in Great Agony The Sheriff Has Charge of tho Case OGDEN Dec 22ltIrs Eliza Duncan wife of David Duncan of 1055 Evenly second street died yesterday under peculiar pecu-liar and distressing circumstances For four years the lady has been a sufferer suf-ferer from heart disease and dropsy and I ieei muuu yesterday morning seemed 10 I worse than for some time past Fearing I she might be prostrated and having part of a sample bottle of Miles nervine in the house she took an ordinary dose of the I tonic about 1130 oclock At 1215 oclock she died in terrible agony and Dr Blackburn assistant city physician who had been summoned declared that her death was the result of strychnine administered ad-ministered in the nervine As the only I persons present at the time she took the I medicine were two of her sons and no one I had been in tim house except members of I the family Coroner Allen and Sheriff i Belnap who took charge of the remains and family residence immediately after the death of Mrs Duncaa were thrown into a quandary as to how to proceed THE DEADLY BOTTLE The bottle from which the dose was taken and which still contained a small quantity of the tonic and some whitest white-st claimed by the medical gentlemen gentle-men who made a personal examination to be strychnine was turned over to Dr Blackburn and he spent all of last night making analysis the result of which will be made known today The coroner may decide to hold an inquest I in-quest and as the sheriff has charge of the case it is more than likely that he will have some interestipg disclosures to make There are several suspicious circumstances cir-cumstances connected with the accident acci-dent which will be thoroughly investigated investi-gated NO MOTIVE KNOWN Just who could have had designs on the ladys life is a matter of much conjecture She leaves four sons named Jude by a former husband who will inherit equally the neat little property she owned Duncan Dun-can is an electric lineman |
