JL w ; , tiif-'-i' v-' X .1 FILLS SWEET TOOTH Marie Bernadete Martins de Albuquerque of Brazil lives with the Floyd Anderson family at 1265 South 350 West in Bountiful. She is from Recise and is here attending Viewmont High School and will graduate in the spring. She has not yet decided what she will do after graduation, she says. SHE LOVES to make a confection using a can of sweetened condensed milk. She makes it in her native country as well as for the Anderson An-derson family. This candy is not as rich as some kinds. BRIGADEROS ' 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 Tbsp. butter 2 Tbsp. cocoa Put the can of sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan and cover with water, simmer for one hour and then cool thoroughly before opening can. Now after it is cool, open the can and empty into a sauce pan, add the vanilla, butter and cocoa. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly con-stantly until it becomes very thick. Cool in the sauce pan, then form into balls and roll in chocolate shot other type of coating material. Makes 2 to 3 dozen small balls, depending on the size. Store in covered container. MARIA HAS seven brothers and sisters, along with her parents, in Brazil. She said that she visited the United States in 1975 for six months and liked it so well that she decided to return. This year she will finish high school, loves the mountains and snow ol Utah and is especially fond of the people and her family with whom she lives. Marie could speak English when she came here, but Maria Bernadette Martins De Albu, a native of Brazil, has made a tasty confection confec-tion that is just right for that sweet tooth, any time of the year. continues to study the English language. She also attends seminary, loves to do sculpture sculp-ture work and various kinds of art including lapidary. She is also a member of the pep club at school and loves to play tennis, kj |
