Show Visitors Center Directors Named Two associate directors for the Temple Square Visitors Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been appointed, it was announced today. They are: DR. BURTIS R. Evans, a Salt Lake physician who has been a volunteer guide on Temple Square for more than 23 years. Don L. Christensen, Bountiful businessman and Regional Representative and past president of the Denmark Copenhagen Mission of the Church. THEY WILL serve with Dale R. Curtis who was appointed ap-pointed director of the visitors center in December. They .oversee more than 1,000 volunteer guides who host nearly four million visitors annually to the Mountain West's most popular tourist attraction. Dr. Evans served the past year as an associate director to Keith E. Gamer, Mr. Curtis' Cur-tis' predecessor. He has been a Sunday School president and teacher and officer in other church organizations. DR. EVANS has long been . involved in civic affairs. He was two-term president of the University of Utah Alumni Association and member of the University Board of Regents, and is physician for the university. Dr. Evans is also vice president (patrons) of the Utah Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors. MR. CHRISTENSEN is owner-partner of Bernina 'Sewing Machine, Inc., and president of Universal Importers, Im-porters, Inc., with offices in North Salt Lake. He had served since 1972 as Regional Representative of the Church, initially with responsibilities re-sponsibilities in Denmark where he was mission president, 1966-69, and a missionary, mis-sionary, 1947-51. He also was a member of the Sunday School General Board of the Church, and bishop of his ward. |
