Show Kidnapping And Shooting Preliminary Hearing Held OGDEN A preliminary hearing was held-but closed to the public-in Third Circuit Court, Ogden, last week for a Missouri man accused of kidnapping kid-napping and shooting spree throughout Davis and Weber counties last December 23-24. CIRCUIT JUDGE Robert V. Phillips granted the defendant, defen-dant, Steven Scott Pannell, 28, of Kansas City, the closed court hearing. Pannell is charged with five felonies by Weber County authorities and may face similar charges by Davis County law officers. Evidence in the closed court hearing was to determine if the defendant should be bound over to Second District Court on two counts of attempted at-tempted homicide, one count of aggravated robbery, and one count of aggravated burglary. PANNELL, WHO was recently released from a federal prison, also is charged by the Weber County Attorney's Office with being a habitual criminal. Charged with being an accomplice ac-complice in the pre-Christmas ci iine spree is George Alvin Bruton, 36, also of Kansas City and also a former prison inmate. Bruton is still at large and is a subject of several fugitive warrants. INCLUDED AMONG the warrants for his arrest are complaints charging him with attempted criminal homicide and kidnapping.
