Show DAVIS COUNTY CLIPPbH, JANUAHT i.",, isa a m FARMINGTON - A 15-year-veteran of service on the Davis County Board of Education has been recognized recog-nized for his contributions by a state educational group. MORRIS HANSEN, of 2368 South 2000 West in Syracuse has been named as recipient of the annual Friend of Education award presented by the 14,000 member Utah Education Association. The citation, presented to Mr. Hansen by UEA Executive Secretary Dr. Daryl McCarty says, in part, "Sometimes an elected official accomplishes tremendous things without fanfare, without headlines, without flamboyant rhetoric and without much applause. Such a person is Morris Hansen, Han-sen, who for the past 15 years has been a member of the Davis County Board of Education." It continues, "During the time Morris Hansen has been a member of the board, the school system has grown dramatically. New schools have been built, new programs have been instituted, institut-ed, many tough decisions have been made, and the district dis-trict has gone through many changes. "DURING THAT period, many bitter confrontations might normally have been expected. Somehow, very, very few differences of opinion flared into major encounters. en-counters. Countless other matters were settled with kindness, diplomacy and good sense because of Morris Han- Through it all, Morris Hansen has made his presence felt in a quiet but extremely valuable way. He has been a true friend of the citizens who elected him, the educators in Davis County, and the young people who look to our schools to help shape their destiny. He is always al-ways understanding; never intemperate. He is a man of good nature, good will and good ideas."
