Show Crossroads By MATT OWEN Wildcats are number one! That's the cry at Woods Cross High School this week. The Cats have gained the recognition recogni-tion and respect of all of the state. THE basketball teams at Woods Cross are each ranked number one in the state. The boys' team owns a glossy six wins no loss record in region play. Last week the team soundly defeated its closest competition. On Tuesday they beat the Ogden Tigers by fifteen fif-teen points and on Friday downed the Davis Darts by twenty-one. Mark McCleery led the team with 23 and 20 points on respective nights, but it was a team and school effort all the way. The largest crowd to attend a home game at Woods Cross turned out this past Friday. Pretty soon it will be tough to get a seat to see Wildcat basketball. THE GALS are also number one. They have yet to be defeated this year. These are , the same gals that won the . state title in volleyball this year. The team is just as impressive to watch, having had only a couple of games that were ever in doubt. Their record is 8 wins no losses, , giving WCH the possibility of . two state basketball championships. cham-pionships. Wrestling is right at the top too. The team soundly thumped the Ben Lomond Scots by a score of 36-14 last Thursday to solidify its second place standing in Region Four. SWIMMING IS also stroking along near the top of things. They are currently in second place in the region standings, with their only loss coming at the hands of Logan. This week things have been going along at the usual clip; fast. Yesterday the girls' basketball team hosted the gals from Ogden in what was supposed to be the battle for region supremacy. Tomorrow the wrestling team also hosts the Ogden Tigers at 7. Swimmers will travel to Ogden Og-den to compete. The basketball basket-ball team plays this Friday at South High at 3:30. FRIDAY NIGHT there will be a stomp in the Wildcat gym at 8 p.m. The Front Page Disco will be providing the music for the evening. Cost will be $1.50 for Woods Cross students and 2 for all other Davis County high school students. Wildcats keep your shirts on, and your coats, and your boots; it's going to be a long winter. Get some school spirit; it will keep you warm. Girls remember there are just four weeks until the Preference Dance. |
