A tasty luncheon was served at small tables early in the evening, followed by progressive contract bridge during which high score prize was won by Mrs. Lee Sum-sion. Sum-sion. THELMA CLARK FETED AT SURPRISE PARTY Mrs. Thelma Clark was surprised surpris-ed by a group of friends at a party par-ty at her home Wednesday evening. eve-ning. A delicious dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Orville Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tipton, Mr. and Mrs. Upton Up-ton Cherrington, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Ber-nard Robertson, Mrs. Earl Hume, and the guest of honor. Cards proved to be the entertaining enter-taining feature of the evening, with high score prize being won by Orville Childs. . Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen wish to announce the marriage of their daughter, Fern, to Keith Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Butler of Provo. The marriage took place Thursday, Thurs-day, January 30, at Provo, with Bishop Whitehead officiating. On Saturday night the young couple were honored at a dinner at the home of the bride's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, at Mapleton. The lovely young bride was attired at-tired in soldier blue and wore a corsage of pink rosebuds. The long dining table was covered cov-ered with a beautiful linen cloth and was centered with a tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature min-iature bride and groom. Pink tapers in crystal candelabra were at either end of the table, and pink sweet peas also graced the table. Covers were laid for the following: follow-ing: Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Many beautiful wedding gifts were presented to the bride and groom, who plan to make their home in Provo. OLD FRIENDS CLUB EXTERTATXED Mrs. Upton Cherrington was hostess to members of the Old Friends club at her home Friday. Luncheon was served, after which 500 was played, with high score prize going to Odessa Childs and consolation to Rita Kelly. The group presented Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Clements and Mrs. Llllie Hume with birthday gifts. Those present were Thelma Clark, Lillfe Hume, Odessa Childs, Elmina Madsen, Leola Ewing, Rita Kelly, Vanza Mann, Blanche Tipton, Gertrude Clements, Muriel Robertson, Elnora Pennington, and Mrs. Floss Phillips was a special guest. FIRST WARD M MEX AND GLEAXERS TO HOLD FIRESIDE The next monthly fireside chat for the First ward M Men and Gleaner Girls will be held Sunday night immediately after Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting. The fireside will be held in the Relief society room in the church house and will feature Dr. Petty, who will show movie, slides of various interesting pictures he has taken. Following the serving of a delicious deli-cious hot luncheon, bridge was played with prizes going to Afton Palfreyman for high score, and the guest prize to Mary Palfreyman. Palfrey-man. President Carrol Leichty presided presid-ed and led in spiritual readings given by the group. Keith Ottesen entertained with a piano solo, and Hugh Hjorth gave a very interesting interest-ing and instructive talk on his mission experience in Norway and showed many beautiful souvenirs and articles obtained during his travels. Max Simkins, Max Alleman, Bette Lee, and Edna Bartholomew assisted in serving dainty refreshments refresh-ments to thirty-three M Men and Gleaners. Grant Alleman offered the benediction. S. H. S. DANCING CLASS ENTERTAINS PAYSON CLASS Members of the Payson Dancing class were entertained at Spring-ville Spring-ville high school Wednesday, with members of the Springville Dancing Danc-ing club acting as hostesses. The entire group did exercises together, after which each group gave dance demonstrations to the other group. Later smaller groups were formed and original dances were made up representing different differ-ent types of school life. The types illustrated were "Study Type of Student," "School Teacher" and "Busybodies." The Springville class is under the faculty supervision of Norda Finlinson. The long dining table was centered cen-tered with a large white birthday cake topped with white candles, and two smaller cakes also graced the table. Officers were elected during the evening as follows: Tonie Fox, president; Mildred Larsen, vice-president; vice-president; Zelma Thorpe, secretary; secre-tary; and club colors were designated desig-nated brown and gold.
