Show Seal Trainer Dies After Making Fortune The man who trained circus sea lions to play "My Country, Tis of Thee", on a row of horns, died recently in Tonawanda, N. Y. Captain John Tiebor. He liked the sea lions at the Buffalo zoo and finally bought a baby sea lion of his own then four more and trained them. He quit his job at the waterworks, got a vaudeville engagement at $500 a week, invested $70,000 in sea lions, put his three sons in the business. This is a swell example of what some folks call "free enterprise". Caotain Tiebor had an idea, had fun, invested money, made money, and gave pleasure to millions and provided fish for many sea lions. |
