Show FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR NATHANIEL ASIIBY Funeral services were conducted in the Second ward chapel Sunday afternoon directed by the Fifth ward bishopric, for Nathaniel Ash-by,' Ash-by,' resident of .Springville since 1944, who died last Wednesday afternoon at the family residence, 436 East Center street. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery under direction of A. Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary. He was born in Holden, Millard county, Sept. 20, 1874, a son of William Hardin and Nancy Maria Ashby. He married Jean Amanda Johnson Nov. 27, 1901, in the Man-ti Man-ti temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They made their home in Leamington, where he engaged in farming until 1944, when the family moved to Springville. He was bishop of the Leamington L. D. S. ward seven years, also served as a member of the high council, ward teacher, stake Sunday Sun-day school aid, stake M. I. A. councilor coun-cilor and stake missionary. He filled a mission for the L. D. S. church in the northwestern states. Survivors include his widow and seven sons and daughters, Mrs. Lola Thompson, Los Angeles, Cal., Evan Ashby, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Alpha Nielson, Lynndyl; Roland Ashby, San Pedro, Cal., Mrs. Vera Watts and Mrs. .Julia Cherrington, Springville; Lt. Ralph Ashby, Army Ar-my Air Forces, stationed in Japan 22 grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Nina Wood, Mrs. Emma Stephenson, Mrs. Mary Edith Ed-ith Stephensen, Mrs. Martha Stevens, Stev-ens, Holden, Rodney Ashby, Man-ti; Man-ti; Robert L. Ashby, American Fork. |
