Show Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Eugene Miner Weill attended services were conducted in the Eighth ward chapel Tuesday afternoon for Eugene D. Miner, 45, who died Saturday at his home, 310 West Fourth South, following a lingering linger-ing illness. He was born March 27, 1907 at Springville, son of Marion F. and the late Ella Dalton Miner. He attended Springville schools and filled a mission for the LDS, church in the Central States from 1926 to 1929. He married Emily Jaynes in Salt Lake City May 16, 1932. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. Gene, as he was known by his many friends, served for a number of years in the presidency of both the MIA and the Elders Quorum of the Springville Second ward. He was also in charge of the church welfare program in that ward. He was active in the Springville city fire department for eight years, and was instrumental in that organization in winning five state trophies. He was president of the Young Democrats organization for two years. He was employed by the Pacific Pa-cific States Cast Iron Pipe company com-pany for a number of years, and at the time of his death was employed em-ployed by the State Fish and Game Department. Survivors include his widow and his father, both of Springville; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Vanda) Jensen, Jen-sen, Mapleton; and Mrs. Richard (Marion) Wright, Fairfield, Ida.; and one half-brother, Moroni F. Kenneth S. Sweany, X Corps artillery commander. Captain Cap-tain Johnson, whose wife, Jacqueline, lives at 35 W. Second South, Springville, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Johnson, 944 E. Third North, Spanish Fork. He was cited for outstanding service while comanding Battery B of the 145th Field Artillery Battalion, a Utah National Guard outfit which has been in Korea since November, Novem-ber, 1951.
