Show National Scout Week Will Be Observed Here f , . Local Boys Join In Birthday Ceremony Scout Recognition Will Feature Programs, Banquet, And Downtown Window Displays Celebrating the thirty-first anniversary week, the theme for which is "Scouting . . . Strengthens and Invigorates Democracy," Kolob stake Scouts will begin be-gin a week of programs commencing this evening with the Kiwanis-Scout dinner. Approximately 225 Oyi (ojj people, including nearly 2 00 registered regis-tered scouts, Klwanis club members, mem-bers, city officials, and others are expected to attend the bauquet in the Memorial hall tonight. The various wards will have a scouting display in one of the downtown store windows that will typify scouting work. On Monday, February 10, the scouts will do good turns all over the city, including various work for widows and other persons in need, and on Tuesday, February 11, assemblies will be given by the scouts in all the schools. The Boy Scouts of America, incorporated in-corporated February 8, 1910, were chartered by congress June 15, 1916. They have since that time done effective work in this community com-munity and throughout the country. coun-try. Practically 7,000,000 persons, through scouting, have enjoyed adventure, hiking, camping, swimming,, swim-ming,, and fellowship, and have learned how to be helpful to others. Boy Scout week is for the purpose of recognizing the effective effec-tive service rendered by the scouts throughout the nation. |
