Two of the prominent women's clubs of tho city will celebrate the birthday of the Father of His Country Coun-try on Friday with their annual lunch-cons. lunch-cons. The Ladies' Literary club will commemorate its forty-first 'annivcr-' 'annivcr-' sary with a luncheon at the clubhouse at 1 o'clock. Tho Spirit of Liberty chapter, Daughters of tho American Revolution, will entertain at luncheon at ihe homo of Mrs. F. J. Gustin, 1172 East First South street. It is fitting that conservation, the watchword of those who are ' ' keeping keep-ing the home fires burning," should he emphasized in both of the leading social functions in tho club life of Salt Lake for the year. The annual function func-tion of the Ladies' Literary club has usually beeu an elaborate entertainment entertain-ment at one of the leading hotels or cafes of the city. This year it is to bo a simple luncheon, prepared and served by the entertainment comnut-teeritho comnut-teeritho club at the clubhouse. Hesitations Hes-itations may be made from any member .of the committee not later ,.ian Tuesday evening. The attendance vwill to limited to club members. Some i71 form of entertainment, the nature na-ture of which will not be announced beforehand, will follow luncheon. The entertainment committee of the club includes Mrs. A. B. A programme will follow lunch-con lunch-con and will include vocal selections by Miss Edna Dwyer, "Star," by Rogers, and ''I Heard a Thrush at Eve," by Cailman; a cello solo by C. I). Shettler, a piano solo by Melviu Peterson, and the reading of modern war poems by Mrs. Edward E. Hoffmann. Mrs. L. H. Burke and Miss Louise Shettler will ho accompanists. KiteS CLUBS will be in the social limelight, lime-light, by the way, this week. In .addition to the celebrations of the ladies' Literary club and the Daughters Daugh-ters of the American Revolution, the Wasatch Literary club will have its auniversary luncheon' at the Newhouse hotel Tuesday. The club is one of the largest and most flourishing ill Salt Lake and its yearly luncheons are always al-ways among the important social events. The members have the privilege priv-ilege of inviting guests. Luncheon will be served at 1 o'clock "in! interesting toasts will follow. Miss (Jollier first won her wavto the hearts of the people of this city when plaving the ingenue role in the Garrick Stock company here several sev-eral years ago. Two years ago she renewed her acquaintance ac-quaintance here when playing with John Drew and she will return this week for the first time since then. Miss Collier will bo extensively entertained en-tertained during her engagement. A theater party will be given in her honor tomorrow evening to witness her opening open-ing performance with L. C. Riter as host. The popular young actress announces an-nounces that she will be at home to her friends informally at the Hotel Utah Tuesday afternoon from 4 until 6 o'clock.
