Show Episcopalians Consider the Move for Closer Union in World Endeavor- DETROIT, Mich., Oct. IS. Investigation Investi-gation of a cooperative movement for closer relations between iU lines of endeavor en-deavor including capital and labor known, as , the ''Rochdale (England)'' movement, which has been endorsed by the American Federation of Labor and the war council of the Roman Catholic church in this country, was asked by the house of deputies of the Episcopal church this morning of the church social service commission. The commission is to report with recommendations at the 1922 convention. The movement includes in-cludes the possible establishment of cooperative co-operative stores. The house of deputies concurred in a resolution by the house of bishops to I close the convention next Friday, October Oc-tober 24. The Rev. J. T. Tenbroeck of Calumet, Mich., chairman of the missions committee, com-mittee, offered a resolution concurring with action of the bishops to create a department of Christian Americanization Americaniza-tion in the board of missions for work among alien3. The house of bishops today began balloting for bishops to the missionary districts of Liberia, Haiti, the Panama Canal zone, the Philippines, Utah and Salina, Kan. The house of delegates will lively act on the election next Monday. Election sessions of both houses are secret and the result is not known until the house of deputies has acted. . CINCINNATI, Oct. 18. The executive execu-tive committee of thfo Disciples of Christ,- in. convention here today, ree-. ommended a general increase in the salaries sal-aries of pastors of that denomination, they urged that all salaries under $1500 be rair?d 25 per cent; between $1500 and $2000 twenty per cent; between $2000 and $3000 fifteen per cent, und above $3000 ten per cent. The following united missionary budget bud-get for the year also was recommended: Foreign Christian missionary society, $683,802; American Christian Missionary Mission-ary society, $379,903; Christian Woman's Wo-man's Board of Missions, $610,100; National Na-tional Benevolent associations, $252,081;. Board of Church extensiqn, $73,292; Board of Ministerial relief, $136,324; American Temperance board, $12,735; Association for Promotion of Christian unity, $210,108; board of education, Disciples of Christ, $103,945; state and provincial societies, $427,718. One hundred thousand dollars will be spent Muring the coining year for the extension and development of bibte school work. |
