Show LeetoniBennett Mrs. Fern Houston Young Couple Married Mar. 14 A quiet wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mitchell, Saturday, Mar. 14, when their son, Leland, and Mi3S Rita Black were united in marriage by Bishop John Has-lem. Has-lem. Miss Black was from Salt Lake City. 86 YEARS YOUNG - So many people have a birthday birth-day every year and it has happened hap-pened again to Mrs. Delia Mc-Kowen, Mc-Kowen, of Vernal. She was 86 on March 12. Her children and families visited with her. They were Mr. and Mrs. John Bolton, Nellie Bolton, -Betty Bolton, Mrs. Gertrude Mitchell, her son Leland and his fiancee, Miss Rita Black, Mrs. Burns McKow-en, McKow-en, and Mrs. Joe Norton. It was a very happy occasion for all. It was a jolly dinner party as Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harm-ston Harm-ston entertained Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferron, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Eu-gene Harmston, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Houston and Mrs. Mary Orser, Sunday evening at their home. . . Clair Haslem underwent an operation on his eyes for a growth, which was closing his vision. He returned from Salt Lake City Friday The stitches were removed and he is doing very nicely. Merlin Sullivan, of the High Council, attended Sacrament meeting Sunday. Church was dismissed early so the officers could attend Union meeting at Roosevelt. Mrs. Doris Haslem had the misfortune of injuring her back last. Tuesday at Relief Society when the piano stool on which she was sitting collapsed and let her fall to the floor. The Happy Four recently motored mo-tored to Pleasant Valley to be with Mrs. Lorraine (Dr.) Allen. Mrs. Evelyn Brighton, Doris Haslem, Nellie Horrocks and the Dr. made a point of visiting each other on their respective birthdays and they always find something verv nice to eat. Mr. and Mrs Winfred Long, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmston attended the funeral service of Mrs. George Young at Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Young of Orem, visited the Winfred Win-fred Longs. The women are twin sisters known as Thelma and Delma. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tidwell went to Mt. Emmons, Sunday, to participate in a birthday dinner din-ner party, in honor of Mrs. Tid-well's Tid-well's sister, Bonny Perkins. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coltharp, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bowen and Mrs. Frances Bowen attended the wedding of John Lee Zimmerman Zim-merman to Miss Evelyn Granger Gran-ger of Duchesne, held at the ward chapel. While the dance was in full swing, the. fire alarm was heard and the orchestra, being firemen, rushed to help with the fire, but later returned and finished the entertainment. Everyone was presented with a piece of wedding cake. Byron Bolton and Lorraine! are hauling lumber from the mountain to build Lorraine a new house. John Haslem was a Salt Lake visitor Friday, on church business busi-ness and personal business. |
