Show 33.8 In. Of Snow On Lake Fork Mtn. Snow measurements made on Lake Fork Mountain reveal that on March 2nd there was an average av-erage depth of 33.8 inches of snow. The snow pack contained an average of 6.9 inches of water. wa-ter. In 1952 for the March 1 period on the Lake Fork Mountain Moun-tain snow course, there was a depth of 60.6 inches of snow with a water content of 17 inches. The 1951 measurement was 49.6 inches of snow, containing con-taining 10.7 inches of water. Mr. Horrocks and Mr. Devine of the Soil Conservation Service made the measurements. It is planned to make two more snow measurements for 1953. These measurements will be for the April 1 and May 1 periods. The snow survey and water yield program is a cooperative project of state and federal agencies ag-encies with the Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Service having over all responsibility. |
