Show National Guard Unit For Roosevelt Being Studied A National Guard unit for Roosevelt was discussed at a meeting of the mayor and city council last Monday night, when Captain Kent Jorgensen, battalion commander of Unit No. 1334 of Salt Lake City, and a committee composed of Stanley Anderson and a Mr. Rolf, both of Vernal, presented reasons why Roosevelt City should have a unit. According to Mayor Paul Murphy the council heard the facts and information from 'the delegation, which they took under un-der advisement. It was suggested sug-gested by Captain Jorgensen, j who is a native of Leota, that Roosevelt could have a platoon of 35 men. The delegation also met with officials of the local American Legion post. To Extend Sewer With financing have been arranged, ar-ranged, people living in the west flat of Roosevelt, were assured Monday night that the city sewer would be extended to their area. A delegation met with the council and presented a signed petition of those who desired the service. Budget Postponed Due to the absence of two members of the council Monday Mon-day night it became necessary to postpone approval of the 1955 budget, which had been planned. Considerable discussion discus-sion was given to the budget, with action delayed until the next meeting of the council. |
