Show William J. Lowders Mark Golden Wedding Date Dec. 31 Mr. and Mrs. William J. Low-der, Low-der, prominent Parowan residents celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve with members oftheir family who reside at Long Beach, Calif. Both are life-long residents of this community. Mr. Lowder was born April 4, 1879, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lowder, pioneer Parowan couple. Mrs. Lowder was born here Jan. 23, 1882, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. New S, Whitney and her father was the first white child born in Parowan.. Paro-wan.. They were married Dec. 31, 1901, by Bishop Morgan Richards and have made their home here during the entire 50 years. Mr. Lowder was a government trapper trap-per for many years and has always al-ways been an ardent sportsman and did a lot of hunting. In later years he has owned and trained race horses. Mrs. Lowder has been active in affairs of the community and the L D S church, serving as an officer in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. She is also al-so an active member of the D. U. P and the American Legion auxiliary. The Lowders have eight children chil-dren as follows: Mrs. Roca Mitchell, Mrs. Varian Halterman, and Art Lowder, Parowan; Grant Lowder and Maxine Robison, Fillmore; Elmo Lowder and Mrs. Laurel Specht, Long Beach, Calif, and Mrs. Lucile Boles, Casper, Wyo. A son Eugene Lowder was killed in the African campaign of World War II, while serving with the U. S. Army. |
