In the center cen-ter of tho tablo was an Immense bunch of carnations,- with streamers of green extending to tho comers of tho table. Each place card was hand painted in green and white, with a white carnation tied to it with a green ribbon. After tho luncheon a delightful paper was read by Mra. Lowls. A delightful comedy was given at tho Immanuol Baptist church Friday evening In celebration of April Fools' day, the namo given to the play being, "The Old Maid's Association," and it was much en-Joyed en-Joyed by all. After tho play tho remainder re-mainder of the evening was spont In games and a supper, with many Interesting Inter-esting and unusual llttlo delicacies In keeping with April Fools' day were served. Tho parlors of the church were I decorated with rod and white carnations. Daugherty gavo a paper on "Venetian Art," which wtis followed by a paper by Mrs. U. G. Mosor on "Venetian Life." The study of Italy was also continued. Tho Bayvlew Reading club met Tuesday Tues-day afternoon with Mrs. B. L. Davis at her home, 1007 First avenue. Mrs. Grant Swan gave a paper, "Greok Literature and Prominent Buildings of Athens," after which "Current Eventa" was given by Mrs. P. A. Dlx. After the programme dainty refreshments were served. The members of tho Qulngcnta club spent a pleasant afternoon with Mrs. H. "W. Sherwood at her homo, 633 Eighth avenue. The prizes wero awarded to Mrs. C. A. Booth and Mrs. Herman. During the afternoon about twenty of the Daughters called and later in tho evening even-ing the Sons called to wish tho hostess many happy returns of the day. The home was boautlfuly decorated with red and white carnations nnd pink roses, and each guest was presented with a large pink rose as a remembrance of tho occasion. The hostess was prcsentod with manv beautiful presents from loving friends and relatives. Tho twenty-two members of the West End Girls' club held their regular mooting moot-ing Thursday afternoon at the kindergarten kinder-garten rooms at 432 South Fourth West street- The programme was in charge of Miss Estclle Daft and Miss Jennie Gray. Instrumental numbers wero given by the Misses Dollv and Roberta Crompton, and vocal numbers by Miss Helen Drennen and Miss Catherine Hawes. |
