Show Lapoint Giri To Attend Junior Red Cross School Miss Joleen Swain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Swain, of Lapoint, a Junior student at Alterra high school last year, has been selected to attend the national training school of the Junior Red Cross at Flathead Lake in Montana from July 4 to 18. According to Mrs. Myrtle Lambert, adviser to Miss Swain, and a teacher at Alterra, she will represent the Uintah County Coun-ty Junior Red Cross at the affair. af-fair. Miss Swain will be accompanied accompan-ied to Salt Lake City by Mrs. Lambert and will then travel to Montana with representatives from other Junior Red Cross chapters from all over Utah, and upon returning, the group will spend two days enjoying the sights through Glacier and Yellowstone Yel-lowstone National Parks. The summer training center at Flathead Lake will open July 5 for an intensive 10-day training program. There will be 100, students in attendance. These have been selected for their outstanding qualifications of leadership, and will come from high schools in Montana, Idaho and eastern Washington and eastern Oregon. According to Mrs. Lambert, the Training Center curriculum will include discussions and demonstrations on first aid, water wa-ter safety and accident prevention, preven-tion, home nursing, local, national na-tional and international Junior Red Cross activities; discussions of the role of Junior Red Cross in a national emergency; supervision super-vision and instruction in swimming', swim-ming', and Junior and senior life saving qualification tests. |
