Show DOPE FIEND WEEPS IN COURT William McDowell, the dopo fiend, who was released from tho city Jail Saturday afternoon, was arrested again yesterday morning and was arraigned ar-raigned before Judge Recder in police court this morning. McDowell was picked up on Grant avenue under tho influenco of drugs and laboring under un-der the halluclnntlpn, so the pollco say, that ho saw a- man drop a coin. When arrested, ho was digging In the mud of the gutter and talking to himself him-self the while, and the police say he was in nu entlrelv demoralized and irrational ir-rational condition. McDowell shed tears in court and begged almost frcnzledly to bo nllow-pd nllow-pd to go, telling several stories about jobs he had promised to him but when 'the parties were called up, whom McDowell said had promised him work, the tales were found to he without with-out foundation The court allowed him to tell his story but was deaf to all his appeals and gave the man fifteen days. oo |
