Prof. Milton Whitney, chief of tho bureau of soils of the department of agriculture, has called tho attention of Secretary Wil- H son to the fact that only 12 states aro co-operating In the bureaus soil H survey investigation. From the other H states, however, there Is a strong de- H mand from citizens and associations H for knowledge regarding their soil j resources, and Prof. Whitney suggests that from the federal viewpoint it is Important to map the soils in those states. Additional funds aro needed, ho says, for tho extension of soil work in tho non-cooperating states. H oo H |
