Show po CAR LINE TO THE UPPER VALLEY County Attorney David Jensen presented pre-sented to the board of county commissioners com-missioners this morning a proposed ordinance granting a franchlso to tho Ogden Rapid Transit company to build an olectric car line on the county road In Ogden canyon, over the territory terri-tory occupied by tho Ogden Canyon Resort company, known as the Idle-wild Idle-wild rosorL No chargo will bo made for the franchise, but the company will be permitted to use only so much ground as may bo required for the construction of tho track. The tenure ten-ure of the franchise Is 50 years. The ordlnanco passed Its first reading read-ing during tho forenoon session, and It 1b contemplated that It will pas6 the third and final reading this aftei-noon aftei-noon It Is understood by tho commissioners commission-ers that the Rapid Transit company desires to oxtend Its intenirban lino from tho Hermitage In tho canyon to Huntsvlllo and it has secured a right of way over the entire line except ex-cept the Idlewlld property, which Is owned by Simon Bamberger of Salt Lako and others. An agreement could not be reached with Mr Bamborgor and tho company concluded to ask of tho county commissioners tho prlv-i prlv-i ilego of using a part of tho road there for track purposes. It is claimed that the track on that part of the road will not interfere with travol and that ample room can bo given for the car service. Tho commissioners contend that the people of tho upper valley, as well as Ogden, arc anxious to got electric car service through the canyon this year and that tho county can well afford to give a right-of-way over the county road at this point for that purpose. |
