Show IRON COMPANIES MAKE ANSWER Trenton, Is'. J., Jan. 29. Kellogg and Emery, couaol for tho Minnesota group of land and Iron mining companies, com-panies, named as party defendants in tho suit of the government for tho dissolution of tho United Statos Stool corporation, filed their answers today to tho government's allegations There are threo distinct answers, one by the West Missnbe Land company, com-pany, Limited, and seventeen othor land and Iron mining companloB, tho socond by J. H. Gruber. individually, and tho third by Louis W Hill, James N Hill, Walter J. Hill and Edward T Nicholas, as trustees. The answers are a general denial, so far as these defendants are concerned, con-cerned, of the government's allegations allega-tions of tho plan by the steel corporation cor-poration and the other defendants to consplro to restrict competition Gruber and tho other four Individuals Indivi-duals are charged with being trustees In a lease from tho West -Mlssabe Land company, Limited, and other defendants, de-fendants, of ore land to, the Great Western Mining company, tho royalty royal-ty on the ore to be paid by tho Great Western company, the latter being guaranteed by the "United Steel corporation cor-poration In his answer, Gruber admits having hav-ing Joined in tho lease The other four individuals admit being trustees and having polnod In tho lease as 6uch, but they deny that they were a party to the creation of any monopoly in Iron or stool production pro-duction or in the restriction of tho output f re.
