Show JUVENILE COURT LAI IS Bill DISCUSSED Important Changes Arc Being Considered ny Committee on Revision. Two important measures were advocated advo-cated by tho committee on revision of the juvenile court statutes at the meeting meet-ing Tuesday morning. One was the forbidding of messenger companies to employ messenger boys under IS 3rears of nue. and tbo other tho establishment of two detention homes, one for boys and the other for girls, in Salt Lake City. It is planned, in this connection, to loach the girls at this institution domestic do-mestic science nnd the boys manual training. The now law doubtless will make it compulsory upon all the counties coun-ties of the slate lo establish detention deten-tion homes for both boys and girls. The messenger services will probably mako a hard light against the proposed lav,-, for the reason that should it pass it, will cost more to secure messengers. Several messenger boys have boon brought boforo the juvenile court here on serious charges within tho last two years, and tho committee bases its advocacy ad-vocacy of tho new law upon tho groun'ds that its adoptiou would reduce these cases. The question of raising the salary of the judge of the ."juvenile court of tho Third judicial district from $1000 a year to' $2500 was discussed. The next meeting will be hold at 10 o'clock this morning. Outsiders interested inter-ested in tho work aro invited to tender written suggestions for the new law. |
