Cramer was elected a member of tho Provo city council coun-cil nt tho regular meeting of that body last evening. Mr. Cramer was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John F. Van Waarcnen from tho Fifth ward. In the election of Mr. Cramer tho recommendations of the Republican chairman chair-man and fsecrotary wero Ignored. At the last meeting a communication wns read from the secretary of tho county Republican Republi-can commlttoo recommending George S. Taylor, a brothor-ln-law of Reed Smoot, for the appointment. The communication communica-tion was tabled and never ugaln saw tha light of day. A majority of tho council aro what Is termed west-end sympathizers, sympathiz-ers, and politics don't cut any figure with them. It Is generally known that Cramer Is also a "west-ender" and Taylor is not. Therefore Cramer wan elected. David Johnson tondercd his resignation resigna-tion as city recorder to the council last evonlng. Tho resignation will bo acted upon at the next regular mooting. Delia Booth presontod a claim to tho city council for $25 for damages alleged to have been sustained by tho clogging of a sewer, which flooded hor homo on Academy avenue. Judge Booth, District Attorney Houtz and Court Stenographer Mrs, B. H. Walters, Wal-ters, have returned from Vernal. Judgment has been entorod In tho district dis-trict court against James Nelson for $r.0.30 and In favor of tha HInes-Klmbor Grocery company. j A marriage license has been Issued to Jesse Palfrcyman and Blrdlo Clark of Springvllle. |
