Show KILLED IN QUARREL OYER MINING CLAIM CHAFE Y, Nev., Dec. 20. Sol Hendra, the youngest of tho three Hendra brothers was shot and Instantly killed this afternoon after-noon while attempting to do assessment work on the old Tullulah mine, two miles west of this camp. Hendra. in company with his brother, Tom. arrived on the property about 2 o'clock, and two men, named Rooney and Clarke, who hax'c disputed dis-puted the title to tho mine for the past five months, appeared with several other prospectors and ordered Hendra from tho mine. Hendra refused to go, when someone, some-one, concealed behind a largo dike, fired the fatal, shot, tho bullet penetrating tho young man's temple. A score of deputy sheriffs are pursuing tho fleeing man in automobiles und on horses. Crowds of excited miners aro parading the streets and making frequent threats of lynching Rooney and Clarke If caught. This Is tho second tragedy In tho history his-tory of the mine, which has been Idle slnco thft days of the Comstock boom. The former for-mer superintendent, named Banks, an Englishman, was shot nnd killed thirty years ago by his Indian boy servant, and the mine has not been in operation slnco |
