Show Mm MARKET STRONG ON DAMAGE REPORTS News From Argentina Contributes Contrib-utes Largely to the Bullish Sentiment Manifest. CHICAGO. Dec. 29. One of the chief factors contributing to the strength of the wheat market was cablegrams from Argentina Ar-gentina stating that severe storms were doing considerable damage" to the wheat crop. Other advices from that country confirmed the previous estimates of a comparatively small amount of wheat which will be available for export. These reports transformed a weak market to one of strength. At the opening prices were Jc to i'Zfgc lower compared with the previous close, the weakness being duo to a decline of Id to Id at Liverpool. A firmer tone developed de-veloped toward the end of the hour, and throughout the remainder of the day sentiment in the pit continued bullish. A special report on the fall-sown crop of wheat in this country made by a local exporter, who was Inclined to doubt the accuray of the government statistics, showed that the special figures placed the total ncrcago at 1,250,000 more than was claimed by this authority. This report, re-port, helped to strengthen the market. Tho market closed strong, with all deliveries de-liveries at the highest point of the day. May being at S1.07J and July at 9&jc. The corn market closed strong at tho highest point, with prices up c to S'g'Jc. final quotations on May being at 61iff'61Jc and July, 61Sc. The oats market closed firm at the top, with prices up iic to ic compared with the previous close, final quotations on May being at 51ic and on July, 462c. Increased receipts of Jive hogs here and at other western packing centers induced moderate realizing in provisions by local longs, which caused a weak market throughout the entire day.
