This committee, therefore, is sending to each producer of lead within the state of Utah a blank form for filling out, which will 'enter into each minute item regarding the mining, milling, transportation and smelting, of lead ores. Tf the responses are as complete and prompt as the importance of the; matter iu hand merits, the House committee com-mittee at "Washington will bo in possession posses-sion of indisputable facts sustaining the present, contention as to th necessity neces-sity of a lead tariff. Since any considerable reduction in the tariff on load would be disastrous to tho "West and indirectly so to tho entire country, it. behooves all interested parties to unite in resisting nnj such action. "It is highly important that tho men who arc to look after the interests of the West in the approaching revision should bo armed . with accurate data on the lead mining industry, and with this end in view "the executive committee of the Utah Mine Operators' association has set about to obtain statistics for the slate of Utah, and has appointed the undersigned a special committee for this purpose. Tho committee has selected select-ed the year 100(5 as the one for which to gather statistics, believing that the figures fig-ures for that year will bo immediately available, and because, the year IflOfi represents a poriod free from financial disturbances.
