Show IIF'vVS NOTES FROM NEWCASTLE I By Mildred Tullis Scouts Jimmy Tullis, Bobby Knell. Roger and Rodney Forsyth For-syth and supervisor Otto Fife and W. T. Wertz enjoyed a two-day two-day outing on Cedar Mountain last week. The group hiked to the point where three springs Joined to form the head of the Virgin River. They also had an unusual treat when they killed and cooked a porcupine for their dinner. The boys declared the meat to be very Kood. Fishing added to the enjoyment of what the ooys called "an especially good trip." The young girls are enthusiastic enthus-iastic about the two 4 11 Clubs organized here. Mrs. Mary Tullis has Linda Chrlstensen and Syd-ney Syd-ney Tullis who have named their club the "Gay Notes." Mrs. Katherine Chrlstensen has Kathleen Kath-leen Knell. Jean Forsyth and Beverly Christensen who have named their club 'The Fairy Cooks." Both clubs have a cook ing project. Mrs. Murray Harrison was hostess hos-tess to the women's club Thursday Thurs-day evening. Floyd Hunt of the "Hunt Beauty Salon" in St. George spoke on hair grooming. In an especially interesting demonstration dem-onstration he styled the hair of several of the women present showing them a more flattering hall style. The Cub Scouts enjoyed a trip to Lions Mouth near Pages ranch Monday afternoon in connection with their theme for June of Archaeology. The old Indian writings on the cave walls were very interesting to the boys. Those making the trip were Rob-ert Rob-ert Reeve, Daniel Tullis, Billy Hart. Gail Knell, and Den Mothers Moth-ers Mildred Tullis and Kirk Tullis. Tul-lis. Mr. and Mrs. Monte Sorenson are happy over the arrival of a new baby boy, born last Thursday Thurs-day morning. -Mrs. Sorenson returned re-turned home from the hospital Monday afternoon. Mrs. Amy Knell who spent the past few months In northern Utah has returned to her home here. Mrs. Carol Harrison and children chil-dren of California are visiting for awhile at the Gordon Knell home. Mrs. HarrUon and Mrs. Knell are sisters. Mrs. Uriah Jones and Mrs. Dick Jones were among those who took the CSU tour to the "Hole-in the-Rock" last week. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hulet and son of Parowan visited in town Sunday with friends and relatives. rela-tives. Mr. and Mrs. Caine Christensen Christen-sen and Lonnie and Vickie are home t"T few days. The Chris-tensens Chris-tensens have been living in Ka-nab Ka-nab where Mr. Christensen has employment on the road that is being built to the Glen Canyon dam site. |
