Show City Council Action Taken on Miscellany Cedar City Council gave the B P O E Lodge 1556 of Cedar City authorization to handle all concessions con-cessions within the city for the Fourth of July in connection with that organization's handling of the July Fouth activities, according accord-ing to Mayor Arnold Anderson, i This action was taken at the 'regular meeting of the Council , Thursday, June 20. All members of the council were in atten-! atten-! dance. In other action by the coun-cil coun-cil It was agreed to again cooperate coop-erate with the United States Ge. ologlcal Survey in conducting further tests at Navajo Lake to determine water rights. It Is the third consecutive year the USGS has conducted these tests. The city is cooperating to the extent of $500, the state of Utah contributes con-tributes $500 and USGA matches the funds with $1000. Under the replacement pro. gram for the parking meter in Cedar City, authorization for the purchase of 12 additional met ers was given' by the council. Each year the city Is atempting to purchase additional meters to replace worn out equipment. The council also authorized the use of special parking permits to be used in connection with convention and other special activities ac-tivities in the city. These special permits will allow free parking to conventioneers during their stay in the city. Tho council mad m rash con. tribution of $200 to the Cedar City High School band to help defray expenses on that group's trip to San Francisco, and also delegated $100 to the Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department for use in arrangements for the 1957 state convention to be staged here In August |
