Show Cedar City Social Swing Mrs. Don Draper attended the LDS Hospital alumnae nurses homecoming over the week end. Saturday afternoon a tea was held at the nurses home and Saturday night there was a dinner din-ner at the Union Building at the University of Utah. Mrs. Draper is also attending leadership week at the BYU. While In Provo, she Is staying with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Doug-las Bennett Dr. and Mrs. Robert Parry and their two children, Chauncey and Linda, are spending a week with Dr. Parry's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gronway Parry, At the present time. Dr. Parry is interning in obstetrics at Chicago. Members of the Kiwanls Club and their wives will enjoy their annual canyon pary next Monday Mon-day night Bruce Osborne Is in charge of the committee working on the party. Mrs. Virgil Bird was hostess to her duplicate bridge club Thursday Thurs-day evening. Special guests were Mrs. Glade Stephenson, Mrs. Ru-Ion Ru-Ion Heyborne and Mrs. Corry Ol-son. Ol-son. Prizes were won by Mrs. Dick Morris and Mrs. Lester Heyborne. Hey-borne. Mrs. Bruce Decker and Mrs. Corry Olsen. This week the Lady Lions and their guests attended a summer luncheon held at the Cedar Breaks Lodge. Toastmaster was Winona Cowan. Elaine Southwlck reviewed Ann Frank's "Diary of a Young GlrL" Mrs. Chester Norstrum has Just returned from Chicago where she has been visiting with relatives rela-tives and friend. Friends of Marus Cloward entertained en-tertained her at a baby show last Friday evening. Jean Robb and Arva Cloward were in charge of the affair. Guests were Betty Lou Schoppmann. Wllma Petty. Mary Lou Merryweather, Ruth Betenson, Florence Mathews Margaret Gillies, Loa Johnson, Beverly Joseph and Margaret Gamble. Attending the Lions national convention and acting as chap-erones chap-erones for the band are Mr. and Mrs. Reed Berrett, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Isom, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Mor-gan Slack and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Wal-lace Osborne. Before leaving Cedar City, Helen Hel-en and Jerry Stokes were entertained enter-tained at Wood's Ranch by their Sunday School class. The Beta Sigma Phi state convention con-vention was held In Salt Lake City this past week end. Members Mem-bers from Cedar who were present pres-ent were Nedra Larson, Afton Banks, Lois Woodbury, Evelyn Gillies, GarFae Middleton, Mere-lyn Mere-lyn Bradshaw, Nelda Jones, Ver. Lyn Bradshaw Tony Hunter and Jerri Bulloch. The travel trophy was won by the group from Cedar. Ce-dar. Events that took place were a fashion show at the Paris, a social hour and smorgasbord at the Country Club. Sunday the day began with a devotional at Memory Grove, breakfast at the Newhouse Hotel and later a banquet ban-quet there followed by a program. pro-gram. At the banquet It was decided de-cided that a tri-state convention would be held In Ogden next year and the year following Cedar Ce-dar City will be host for the state convention. Major and Mrs. Earl House and daughter Pat have soent several days visiting with Mrs. House's narents, Mr. and Mrs. AldMee Tnorlev. Thy are also visiting with Mr. and Mrs. E. E. House In Salt Lake City and Mrs. Bob Mullck In Denver before returning re-turning to their home in San Antonio. Texas. Major House was Hted a one of two dentists In the United States to do advanced study in dentistry at San An-tonlo. An-tonlo. Young Pat remained in Cedar City with her grandparent grandpar-ent for a short time. Mr. Richard DeRos and two children from Salt Lake Ctv are here for a week's visit with relatives and friends. fc. is the former Phyllis Urle. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hevborne left Saturday to fly to Atlantic City t ths National KlwanM Convention. Mrs. Heyborne will return to Provo for a week's visit with her narnts there. DeMoss and two children have Just returned home after a visit to Emmet Idaho, with DeMoss's parents Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hetherington and other oth-er relatives. Young Eddie De-Moss De-Moss traveled to Rlverton, Wyo. to visit with the H. J. Shaws. Mrs. Shaw is Mrs. DeMoss' sister. |
