Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES By Nora Lund Mrs. Lula Bastian, Miss Helen Stones and Mrs. Nora Lund Joined Join-ed 31 fine folks from Cedar City, Newcastle, Beryl, Summit, Paro-wan, Paro-wan, Salt Lake City and California, Califor-nia, including sprightly 81-year old "Grandma" Moyle of the Es-calante Es-calante Valley, as part of the CSU tour to the Hole-in-the-Rock Friday and Saturday. Prof. Ther-on Ther-on Ashcroft was in charge of the tour, with delicious meals planned plan-ned and served by Mrs. Ashcroft. An added interest to the trek was the contact with a river party par-ty led by the noted guide, George White. The Paragonah Fourth of July program and sports activities will be carried on as usual, with Mr. and Mrs. Clair Lamoreaux acting as general chairmen for the affair. There will be cannon salutes at daybreak, with a pro. gram in the church house at 10 a. m. Immediately following the program on the lawn will be races for the children of all ages and other sports. Hot dogs, root beer and ice cream .will be sold by the building committee. In the evening the committee will strive to further swell the fund by serving a ham dinner with all the trimmings in the church basement Each organization will sponsor a booth on the tennis court where many varied articles arti-cles will be on sale. Fireworks will be an added attraction for , the public to enjoy. All townspeo-Die townspeo-Die and visitors are urced to make this day a gala affair. Mrs. Eda Thornton Is happy to have three of her granddaugh-ters, granddaugh-ters, the Misses Carley, JuneJl and Shlrlene Thornton of Moses Lake, Wash., here with her for an extended visit. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Thornton, will arrive some time about July 4 for a short visit with relatives. The three young ladies came down from Salt Lake City with their cousin Gerry Thornton. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Anderson and daughters spent the week end here with Mr. and Mrs. James H. Anderson. A large crowd attended the D U P meeting at the home of Mrs. Clara Robb on Thursday. The history of Mrs. Robb's grandmother, grand-mother, Jane Evans Barton, was read. Special guests were county DUP president, Florence Joseph of Parowan, Mrs. Carllne B. McDonald Mc-Donald of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Jane Patterson of Cedar City, Mrs. DeAnia Kelpin of Califor- nla, and Mrs. Belle Edwards who recently returned to Paragonah to make her home. Eugene Davenport of Salt Loke City is here to spend the summer with his brothers Lewis and William Wil-liam T. Davenport Mr. and Mrs. Lynn McConkles and five children of Vernal spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Robinson. Mr. McConkie is a brother of Mrs. Robinson. Miss Sandra Robinson accompanied the McConkles on their return to spend some time visiting in Vernal. Ver-nal. Mrs. Nora Barton and granddaughter grand-daughter from Parowan accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kelpin Kel-pin as far as Las Vegas when they returned to California after vacationing here with the Cyril F .rtner family. The Cooking Quints 4-H Club held its meeting at the home of leader Mrs. J. Lowe Barton Wednesday Wed-nesday at 10:30 a. m. Sandwiches Sandwich-es and milk shakes were prepared prepar-ed and served. Mr. and Mrs. Sears Willis of Henrieville were In town Sunday Sun-day visiting with relatives. Mrs. Olive Edwards went home with them Sunday for a short visit. Mrs. Ila Williamson and her daughter VlAnn are in Salt Lake City for a few weeks where the child is receiving treatment from a specialist there. George Williamson Wil-liamson is staying with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Wal-do Yardley in Beaver, vhile James is with his grandmother, Annie Williamson, here. Mrs. Hannah Robinson and Robin Ro-bin Lamoreaux returned home Satudray with Mr. and Mrs. Nor-man Nor-man Harris and sons of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. H. II. Kipp and Miss Jean Kipp of southern California Cali-fornia are here to spend a two week vacation with their daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Jim Stones, and family. Miss Linda Dalton, who has spent some time with her grand-pare grand-pare ntsinCalifornlaretuiied with mem. Earl Thornton spent a few days In the Iron County Hospital Hospi-tal for treatment. Shela Barton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Barton, fell from a tree last week end and received re-ceived an injury to her leg which took 12 stitches to close. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butterfield and family arrived In town Monday Mon-day afternoon from Ephrata. Wash., where they have been living the past two years. Mr. Butterfield is released from the service now and after a few days vl.sit with Mrs. Samuel Abbott and family, will travel on to Windsor. Colo., where Mr. Butterfield But-terfield will teach vocational agriculture ag-riculture In the high school. Ray Abbott of Kuna, Idaho, visited with Mrs. Myrtle Abbott i and other relatives Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Walker and sons Roger and Paul, drove up from Cedar City Thursday to wish a happy birthday to Mrs. Walker's mother, Mrs. Eda Thornton. , Mr. and Mrs. Verdell Robinson and daughter of Magna, spent a few days last Uctk with Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Robinson and Max. The group traveled to Kanab to visit the Boyd Robinson family. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones have had as their guests the past week, Major and Mrs. Alvin Kief-fer Kief-fer and four children of Wash ington, D. C; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hen-ry Linford and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Englestead and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Van Englestead Engle-stead and family, all of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mar-ion Englestead and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bentley and sons of St. George. Mrs. Kieffer and the children will remain In this area, while her husband will leave soon for a six week tour of overseas over-seas duty. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Conder and family of Magna spent the week end here with Mrs. Conder's parents, par-ents, Mr. and .Mrs. Gilbert Rob-lnson. Rob-lnson. Mrs. Leona Stones accompanied accompan-ied her niece, Mrs. Delaine Stickle, Stick-le, to Henderson, Nev., over last week end where she visited relatives. rela-tives.
