Show Alpha Beta Club at spring luncheon Alpha Beta Club members concluded meetings for this season with a spring luncheon Friday afternoon, in the president's presi-dent's room at the Wilkinson Center BYU. Mrs. Earl Goates, president, welcomed the ladies including Mrs. Basil Kerr of Los Angeles, a friend of Mrs. Myron Childs. After the group sang selections, selec-tions, directed by Mrs. W. W. Brockbank, Mrs. Earl Condie introduced Mrs. J. W. Webster of Provo, as speaker for the afternoon. Her subject was, "The Art of Self Lovlier You." Discussing the types of clothing clo-thing and jewelry which should be worn by the mature woman, Mrs. Webster said not more than three pieces of jewelry, except two rings, should be worn at one time and that clothes should not be worn only because they are fashionable but they should be becoming to the wearer. Sleeves should be below the elbow and dresses never above the knees, she said. Older women should wear little makeup and their hair should be soft around the face. Bright colors are preferred to blacks and browns, the speaker noted among other things. President Goates who has served the past two years, read an appropriate poem and turned turn-ed the gavel over to Mrs. Sheldon Shel-don Nielson. She spoke briefly and in behalf of the club presented pre-sented a lovely oil painting by Mrs. W. C. Harrison, to the retiring re-tiring president. |
