Open house planned Sunday for two retiring junior high educators Honoring: Principal C. Lynn Hanks and Myrtle Childs, librarian li-brarian at the junior high school, both of whom are retiring re-tiring from their positions this year, an open house will be held Sunday, May 19, from 2 until 5 p.m., at the junior high school, sponsored by the PTA. An invitation is given patrons and friends to attend. The two educators were honored hon-ored recently with a dinner at Oak Crest for members of the faculty and partners. A gift of appreciation and friendship was presented each and the program was highlighted by tributes tri-butes to the guests of honor. Principal Hanks Mr. Hanks has heen a teacher tea-cher and school principal 44 1922, after receiving a 2-year normal certificate from BTU. In 1936, she received a BS degree de-gree from the Y and has since attended summer school at the University of Utah, State Teachers Tea-chers College at San Jose, California Cal-ifornia and University of Montana, Mon-tana, Missoula. She has taught in 14 different dif-ferent teaching stations, under 12 principals, ranging in grades from three to eight, in ten dif- 1 ferent schools. She requested most of the changes because ol the new challenge. Before coming to Springville, he served as mayor and clerk of Salem, where he was a Scoutmaster. He has served as a ward bishop in Springville and was a counselor 12 years. He has also been president of the MIA, a Sunday School superintendent, sup-erintendent, counselor and teacher, tea-cher, and a member of the high council.
