Show BYU basketball team to play in two major West Coast meets Two major basketball tournaments tourn-aments on the West Coast and a total of 13 games at home will spice up a strong 1968-69 1968-69 cage schedule announced today to-day by Brigham Young University. Uni-versity. Coach Stan Watts' team has accepted an invitation to play in the Cable Car Torunament next December in San Francisco. Fran-cisco. Later that month the Cougars will be one of eight participating teams in the Far West Classic in Portland, Ore. BYU will join Houston, Santa San-ta Clara and San Francisco in the Cable Car while the other teams in the Far West will be Oregon, Oregon State, Yale, Washington State, California, Arizona State and Syracuse. In other road games on 1968-69 1968-69 schedule, BYU will play New Mexxico State, Stanford (two games), Utah State, and the five WAC schools that will be vying for the championship next winter. For the first time in several years the Cougars will not play any scheduled games on courts in the eastern half of the nation. na-tion. But BYU will still meet some good intersectional teams at home. The Cougars will open their home schedule Nov. 30 with a single game against USC. Other Oth-er pre-conference games in Provo will feature Oregon State, Seatttle, Denver and Syracuse. Sandwiched in between the league games in January and Febiuary will be games with Utah State, St. Franis (Pennsylvania), (Penn-sylvania), and Athletes in Action. Ac-tion. Conference action begins Jan. 16 with Wyoming, and will winclup against the Cowboys March 1 at Laramie.
