Annexation dispute on city council agenda Major items on the city agenda for Nov. 5 include an annexation report, City-county planning agreement, parking district ordinance and approval ap-proval of nine business licenses. Vernal city and Uintah County have failed to reach an agreement on the contested annexation east of Fifth East. Supposedly county and city officials of-ficials were to meet Monday morning to iron out an agreement, but city officials failed to show. According to Mayor samuel Snyder, the city wanted to meet with the county in the presence of property owners in the annexed area. "The property owners weren't ready for further action with the county," Mayor Snyder said. According to Snyder, the property owners are collecting the signatures of more land owners in the contested area so they can intervene in the suit between bet-ween the city and county. Last meeting the council moved to agree to settle at 1000 East, but no settlement has been agreed upon. The council will receive a report on the annexation suit Wednesday. Despite disagreement on the annexation an-nexation settlement, the city and county did agree on a city-county planning resolution. The resolution unites the city and county to plan for future growth and qualifies the two for a Federal grant. With the removal of the parking meters from Main Street, the council will consider a parking district ordinance. or-dinance.
