Preschoolers in . their costumes were invited to par- : ticipate. There were many interesting : costumes worn by students and teachers. No prizes were given. ' Mrs. Curtis Slaugh is home again after being away two weeks and at- : tending two weddings for her grand- : children. On Oct. 25 she attended the : wedding of her granddaughter Dawn Marie Slagowski to Joe Jensen in Idaho : Falls, Idaho. On Oct. 31 she was to the wedding of her grandson Aaron Brady to Joye Duncan in Green River, Wyo. Wednesday at the senior citizen dinner held at noon, three of the candidates can-didates in the upcoming election spoke. They were Jerry Taylor, candidate for 2 year commission for Daggett County ; Bob Stockton, write in candidate for 4 year commissioner; and Agnes Briggs who is running unopposed in School District No. 4. A pie social for the senior citizens was held at the senior citizen center Wednesday night. Thursday morning, County Nurse Melanie Son was giving flu shots to the elderly and those who are susceptible to the flu or have complications. ' Dr. Larry Wilcken of Vernal saw patients at the Senior Citizen Center in Manila Monday, Nov. 3. This service is free to the senior citizens. The Democrats met at the senior citizen center on Tuesday evening of last week. A short meeting was held and refreshments enjoyed. Some also listened to the Carter-Reagan debate. The drama night and the "Oktoberftrst" has ben postponed at the Manila High School. Manila High School begins basketball practice this week. On Friday there will be a volleyball tournament. Friday morning the bookmobile will be at the Manila High School parking lot. Friday the Manila High School held a carnival which included a spook alley. It was enjoyed by all the Manila sturkrnts plus students from McKinnon. Duane Beck won the big antler contest sponsored by the Flaming Gorge Merc. Although most of the deer this year have been small, Duane managed to bag a big 6-point it. It had a spread of 28 inches. Us antlers were 22 inches high. This gave him a total of 62 points to win the $100 of groceries given as the prize. Sixteen people attended the Halloween party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ellsworth. This was a costume party and the couple receiving the prize for the Ust costumes were Mr. and Mrs. Randy Steinaker. Linda Beckstead wrn the door prize. The decorations were a Halloween theme. Refreshments were served. |
