Rock Springs garnered the state title in Wyoming and Uintah pocketed the state crown in Utah in 1980. "Rock Springs should have some starters back. Brian Ashmore, a starter at 155 pounds and second place winner at the state meet; Steven Shassetz, 167 and John Stassinos, 98, are starters back from last year. The Gonzales brothers have transferred from Laramie to Rock Springs," said Uintah wrestling coach Chuck Henry. Wrestle offs are scheduled for Satur- " day, November 22 at Uintah High School at 7:30 p.m. The Uintah Utes will compete in a double dual meet at Pleasant Plea-sant Grove High School on November 25. The Utes will battle Springville at 5 p.m. and will clash with Alta at 8 p.m. Uintah's junior varsity team will encounter en-counter an opponent at 6:30 p.m. "Springville should be in a rebuilding program. Alta should have some wrestlers who have been in their program pro-gram for two years. They should be a top contender in the 4-A class," said Henry. Uintah's junior varsity team will battle bat-tle varsity squads from Emery, North Sanpete, Mountain View, Orem, Carbon, Car-bon, Olympus and Union in the Valley Opener in Roosevelt on December 5. The Ute varsity team will take part in the Steamboat Springs Tournament on December 5 and 6. Ten Teams will compete in the tournament this year. Uintah has won the tournament five years in a row. The Utes will host the Uintah Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 13. Junior varsity teams from Meeker, Steamboat Springs, Green River, Pleasant Grove, Viewmont, Union and Uintah will compete in the tourney. "It should be one of the toughest junior varsity tournaments," remarked Henry. Uintah will host Grand Junction Central, a wrestling power from Colorado, on Dec. 17 and will take part in the Rock Springs Tournament (varsity), Dec. 19 and 20 and in the Meeker Tournament (junior varsity, Dec. 20.
