Show Volume VI, Issue VI THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 7 July 1, 2002 Liberty Days Parade Seeks Entrants and Grand Marshall The Liberty Days Parade will begin at 10 am on July 4th. We would like to invite EVERYONE to participate in the parade this year! The parade will start at the corner of 4100 North and 3775 East, head west, and end at the Old Red Church. Spectators are invited to line up anywhere along this route. We would like to encourage families to enter a float (car, truck, trailer, etc.) in honor of the first person in their family to move to Liberty. The only requirement is that the name of the person and his or her year of arrival in Liberty are displayed in large print on the side of the float. We are looking for any of the following for entries in the parade: kids Weber County Fair Wants You to Show Off The Weber County Fair organizers want you to show the rest of the county why you are proud of your city or community. They are asking for submissions for Community Booths at this year’s fair scheduled for August 7 through 10, 2002. They will actually pay you $75 to set up a booth and show us why you are the best community around. Organizers suggest that booth submissions come from Eagle Scouts, Young Women, senior citizens groups, family projects, or other organizations. Booth owners may choose to donate the money to a specific charity or use the money to buy materials to make quilts for charity, for example. The Fair will allow only one booth per community. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. Please call Susan Clontz at 731-4556 for more information and to determine if your city or community is still available. AYSO REFEREE CLINIC Become an AYSO certified referee. For anyone 12 years and older. NO CHARGE. Saturday, August 31,2002 10:00AM TO 4:00PM at the Ogden Valley Library. Lunch will be provided. ADULTS WELCOME on bikes; horses and horse-drawn wagons; tractors; musical groups; dance groups; cheerleaders; sports teams; church groups; floats and trailers; antique vehicles; family entries; and emergency vehicles. Judging of all entries will take place at 9:00 am at the beginning of the parade route. Awards and prizes will be given for the following categories, among others: most patriotic; best decorations; family with the oldest roots in Liberty; family with the newest roots in Liberty; and the most people involved in a family float. Please send us your nominations for Grand Marshall.
