Show MI OF JUDGE MACMilLAN UEPEESSIVE CEREMONIES HELD AT OGDEN YESTERDAY J Masonic Order Had Charge of the Funeral Fu-neral Touching References to the Kindly Life of the Dead With every mark of love and respect the remains of the late James H Mae Millan were yesterday borne to their resting place and consigned to th < j tomb The ceremonies were simple impressive and inexpressibly touching There were firm fast friends of th dead mans young manhood and later life there and there were others made friends by some act of kindness of the man in life which doubtless he himself had performed a from habit Gilbert McM Ross an oldtime Nevada friend came In from Virginia City for the services Judge Miner Charles S Varian Va-rian Alexander Howat and other friends were present from Salt Lake and the pupils from the State Industrial Indus-trial school were likewise present lo show the respect in which the dead man was held bytnem There was a great wealth of floral offerings ranging from elaborate designs de-signs down to simple bouquets and blossoms The members of the Ogden bar gave a beautiful broken wheel El Monte commandery K T sent a floral cross and crown Weber lodge No6 A F A M a broken wheel the reform re-form school a broken column the A O U W a shield and anchor the Columbia club a open book The Masonic Ma-sonic order had charge of the remains and from the residence the formal part of the procession moved in the following follow-ing order Reform school trustees teachers and pupils Bar association A O U W Masonic Order I At the church the services were begun be-gun with music from the quintette i Mesdames Cates and Short Miss McDowell Mesame Dowel and Messrs Littlejohn and Parmley Prayer was offered by the Rev Mr Wilkinson and rs Short sang Flee as a Bird The pastor took a his text the words and He Being Dead Yet Speaketh spoke with great power on the illustrations illus-trations of the text afforded by the life of James H MacMillan The pastor spoke of his own knowledge and association asso-ciation with the rugged sterling affectionate af-fectionate lovable character of the deceased de-ceased and in closing read by request a feeling tribute to the dead man written writ-ten by Judge Goodwin Rev T C Iliff also spoke with much feeling on the character of the dead mana character beautiful in its strength and strong in its beauty The Masonic order performed ritual services over the remains of the deceased and conducted the funeral cortege to Mountain Moun-tain View cemetery Bar Association Resolutions The Bar association of the Second judicial ju-dicial district adopted the following resolutions Whereas The Omnipotent Ruler of the Universe has removed from our midst the Hon James H MacMillan now therefore as a lasting testimony of the affection In which we held him be it Resolved That by his death the community has lost a good and patriotic patri-otic citizen his family a kind affectionate affec-tionate and considerate husband and father his profession a mind resplendent resplen-dent with knowledge of the law and a advocate of forensic eloquence uniting in his person those attainments and virtues which have ever been ton t-on the pride and ambition of the fraternity legal frateniy Resolved further That we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the widow and family of deceased in this the sad hour of their bereavement Resolved That the members of the bar attend the funeral in a body Resolved That a copy of these resolutions reso-lutions be spread upon the records of the Second judicial district court of the state of Utah in and for Weber county coun-ty and that a copy be engrossed and presented to the widow and family by a committee selected for that purpose THEODORE MALONEY A R HEYWOOD H H HENDERSON C C RICHARDS W L MAGINNIS Reported by the committee and adopted by the meeting THEODORE MALONEY Chairman AttestH A TAIT Secretary |
