Show SALT LAKERS ABOARD Many Stories Told By the Terror Stricken Passengers Among the passengers on the Union Pacific train held up on Friday were Judge W H DIckson Samuel Paul George A Snow Conrad Miller Warren War-ren McCord and Miss Edna Sherman of Salt Lake City A A Steed of Farm Ington Henry Harker of Taylorville and George J Harbour of Heber City Judge Dickson In relating his experience exper-ience during the blowing up and robbing rob-bing of the express car said that the train was delayed five hours at the place where the crime was committed and was nine hours late in reaching this city Aside from this delay the passengers experienced no inconvenience inconven-ience and In fact for a long time knew nothing of what had happened When they did hear of the holdup there was great excitement and the air was full of rumors and no two reports agreed Some asserted there were four robbers others six Some said the robbers rob-bers had their horses corralled near by but no one was sure One passenger Informed Judge Dick son that the engineer was ordered to run his engine i with the cars forward when he delayed he was struck over the head with a revolver Another of the robbers placed a revolver against his back and swore he would shoot if he were not obeyed They were desperate des-perate men and would have blown up the express messenger had he not Jumped from the car when ordered The car and the safe were blown to atoms by the explosion of the dynamite All was conjecture as to the amount of plunder the robbers secured Some placed it as high n 40000 I was also stated that a portion of this was unsigned un-signed national bank notes which would be worthless to the robbers |
