Show CHASE FOR BANDITS No Trace of the Union Pacific Train Wreckers t POSSES ARE IN PURSUIT BLOODHOUNDS WILL BE USED TO TBAIL THIEVES Express Company Declares That But a Small Sum of Money Was Taken Secured Unsigned National Bank Notes Which Are Worthless Stories of Passengers Special to The Herald Cheyenne Wyo June 3Thc several posses which started in pursuit of the six robbers who dynamited the Union Pacific mail train near Rock Creek yesterday yes-terday morning have thus far been unsuccessful in the search Every avenue ave-nue of escape is now closely guarded and unless the bandits escape from the country before the posses reach the scene which is hardly possible they will surely be captured dead or alive Among the pursuing parties are some of the best plainsmen and trailers in the west The government railroad and express officials are determined that the robbers shall not escape and money is not being spared in the work Today Manager Gentsch of the Pacific Pa-cific Express company stated that the robbers secured about 700 in cash and a few articles of small value Thirty four hundred dollars worth of currency en route to the First National bank of Portland Ore was afso taken but the bills are not signed by the officers of I the > bank consequently they are worth This afternoon federal officers who visited the scene of the holdup found 100 pounds of dynamite horse blankets I blan-kets and other articles left behind by the robbers The railroad company has not given an estimate of its loss in property heavy but is known to be quite |
