Show W. H. BARTEL, PIONEER, DIES Idaho Falls, Idaho, April 9. W. H. Bartel, one of the oldest residents of this part of Idaho, died in the hospital hos-pital Tuesday evening of pneumonia. Mr. Bartel was brought to tho hospital hospi-tal from Howe about ten days ago, suffering from a severe cold, which had taken so strong a hold that It was Impossible to shake It off. He was a veteran of the civil war, having sorved In a New Tork regiment. Ho came west soon after the civil of the war and was In Alder Gulch in Montana. In the early days of that famous mining camp. In 1SS3 he came to Idaho and settled In the Lost river country, where he on-gaged on-gaged In the stock business and ran a small store. He was 79 years of age and leaves a son and stepdaughter, stepdaugh-ter, his wife having died several years ago. |
