Show Deaths and Funerals BROWN The funeral of Mrs. Em-mellne Em-mellne Brown, wife of Israel C. Brown was held at 1 p. m. yesterday In the Third ward meeting house. The service was conducted by Bishop C. O. Turnquist of the Lynne ward, and the speakers were President L. W. Shurtliff. L. J. Taylor, President J. V. Bluth, Mrs. Georgiana Marriott, W. W. Williams and Bishop Turnquist. An appropriate program of quartette muBlc was sung with rare expression by Jed Ballantyne, Robert Blnnle, Bernice Glazier, and Lillian Scott. The pallbearers were six members ot the North Weber stake high council and the Interment was made in the City cemetery. SINGLETON The funeral of Christina Chris-tina Singleton was held yesterday afternoon af-ternoon in the Plain City meeting house, Rev. . V. W. Fleetwood offl elating. Special music was furnished by Mrs. Cerllla Palmer, Mrs. Bernlcc Carver and Miss Leona IpEon. The interment was made in the Ogden City cemetery. AUTH The funeral of Edward Auth will be held Sunday in the Woodmen Wood-men of the World hall in the Fraternity Fraterni-ty block on Washington avenue. The body may be viewed tomorrow afternoon after-noon at the Klrkendall chapel and Sunday from 10 a. m. to 2:30 p. m at the Woodmen hall. The interment will be made in the city cemetery. RACKHAM Funeral services lor Bishop Rackham were held yesterday afternoon in the First ward meeting house. Bishop D. H. Ensign presided pre-sided and the speakers were President Presi-dent C. F. MIddleton, President L. W. Shurtliff. President F. W. Stratford, C Stevens, Bishop E. Bingham and Bishop Ensign. Special music Avas rurnished by Mrs. Mary Farley, Mrs. Mary Jones and Orson Griffin. Eight grandsons of the "deceased acted as pallbearers and the interment was made in the City cemetery. BLANCETT Cbarllla Abbott Browning Blancett aged S4 years, died at 8:35 a. m., today at the residence resi-dence of her son, Jonothan Browning, Brown-ing, 203 West Twenty-ninth street Old age and general debility was the cause of death. Deceased was born at Hornesville, Steuben county. New York July 4. 1829, the daughter of Steven Abbott and Abigail Smith Abbott. Ab-bott. She came to Utah in 1849 and was the first school teacher in Ogden. Og-den. Besides her husband, H. S.Blan-cett, S.Blan-cett, the following slstors survive: Mrs! Phoebe Fife of Thatcher, Ariz.; Mrs Lydia Squire, Long Beach, Cat; Mrs! Abigail Zundel of Willard, Utah. The following children, 29 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 33 great-grandchildren also survive: David E. Browning and Jonothan Jono-than Browning of Ogden and Steven A. Browning of Idaho. Funeral announcement an-nouncement later. THOMPSON At 7:30 this morning occurred the death of James Thompson, Thomp-son, aged 76 years, at the family home, 335 Patterson avenue. Diabetes was the cause of death. Mr. Thompson Thomp-son was born at Eberdam, Wisconsin, Wiscon-sin, December 22, 1S37, and came to Utah In the early days whero for twenty years he conducted a hardware hard-ware business in this city. About a year ago hi3 health began to fall and a year's visit In California and Nevada did not improve It. Mr. Thompson returned to Ogden last Saturday. Sat-urday. He Ib survived by his wife and several relatives throughout the ea.at. Remains are at the Larkln parlors pending funeral arrangements. FOWRS AJ,, 245 'today occurred the death of Verna. A. Fowers the g infant daughter of James .and Martha Shultz Fowers at the family home in Hooper. The baby was born Octo-.. ber 13, 1913. Funeral services wili be held at 2 -30 p. m., Sunday in the Hooper meeting house, Bishop James R. Beus presiding. Remains may be viewed at the home Saturday afternoon after-noon and Sunday morning. Besides the father and mother a brother, James, and two sisters, Lila and Ba-lada, Ba-lada, survive. CUTLIP Hugh Walder Cutllp, son of the late David H. Cutllp, died at ttte family home, 684 Twenty-second street, this morning after a three-weeks' three-weeks' illness of lung trouble. Mr. Cutllp was born in West Virginia. November 9, 1887. Lived in Salt Lake for five years, coming recently to Ogden. He Is survived by his mother. mo-ther. Mrs. Florence Cutllp, two brothers, bro-thers, Easton and Luther of Ogden. one brother, W. A. Cutlip of West Virginia, and one sister, Mrs, Ida C Whltten, of Ogden. The body may be viewed at LIndquist's undertaking parlors and funeral arrangements will be announced later. BUTLER Franklin Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Butler, died Wed. nesday at Idaho Falls and the body arrived in Ogden yesterday morning at 6:40 o'clock, funeral services being be-ing held at the grave In Ogden City cemetery. Bishop Thomas Powol! conducted the service and William Powell and William Kingston offered words of hope and consolation to the bereaved wife and family. A male quartet rendered appropriate musical selections. |
