Show no LITTLE GOVERNMENT ROAD MAKES MONEY Washington, D. C, April 0. The only on-ly standard-gauge railway ever built and operated by tho government, the Boise & Arrow Rock railway, running from Boise to Damslte, on the Boise irrigation project, is proving a finan clal success, according to the annual report of that road, made public to day by Secretary Lane. Tho report shows gross passenger jijH and freight earnings to the amount IH of $44,516, operating expenses, $34,794 fH and net earnings for 1913, $9721. This little railway, about twenty JM miles long carried 20,641 passengers. Freight, in ton miles, was 499,933, and train mileage was 15737. Operating expense per train mile was $2.21. 9 Total net earnings of this lino from its first train in September, 1911, Mm to December 31, 1913, were $25,383. MM i ("ejjjjjjjb |
